Fall Foliage season in the Adirondacks and tennis at the Glens Falls Tennis & Swim Club. Does it get any better than that? This morning I had the pleasure of playing tennis in one of the nicest settings around. The weather was a little brisk when we started – 43 degrees – but we all had a great time. Like Linda Boden said “The crisp air brings out the best in people’s tennis.” Don Pompliano described it as follows, “Crisp cool air with beautiful foliage.” Fred Giardinello – former club President told me “this is like Hilton Head weather, it’s like January and February in Hilton Head.” Not that anyone was mistaking it for summer. Joe Sayer simply said “It’s cold,” everyone on his court agreed.
We have a hardy group at the club. Susie Dick told me “our goal is to continue play into December” and Joan Rhodes added “we hate to see it end.” Everyone agree’s that nature put’s on a great show for us. According to Fran Ambrosini “it was wonderful, great. The leaves are beautiful.” Another great things about fall tennis at the club – “No bugs, no humidity”. That , from Steve George. And Dave Schryer, the club manager stated it this way – “Fall, Fresh Air, Fun and Friends, how can you beat that.” Dave also noted that there were 6 courts going all morning and that has been the norm.
It’s great that we have the club and it’s great that we have the players. We plan on enjoying the club deep into the fall season and as Jack Henegan says – “Thank God.”
You have some fine photos of our great little cub. I hope the weather allows us to play until Thanksgiving.
