On to the next Sectional Championships. This past weekend was the qualifying rounds. Ronan Jachuck almost made it to the Main Draw as a 12 year old (he is just about to turn 10 so he can still play the 10 and unders for another year. He beat Ben Snow 6-2, 6-0 and then he beat Gardner Howe 6-4, 6-2. He lost in the last round of qualifying to the #2 seed in the Qualifyer Daniel Nuxhny by a 7-5, 6-2 score. Shannon Mukerji lost to Allie Jackson-Hing 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Josh Jachuck lost to mark Temporal in the Boys 16′s Qualifyer. The score was 6-2, 6-4. In the doubles, he teamed with Sachin Rhagavan. they lost 8-5 to Matthew Balilo and Mark Temporal.
Emerson Kelby travelled to Rochester for the Mendon Racquet & Pool Club’s September Fiesta Championships. He beat Michael Burr 6-1, 6-1; Alexander Ojugbeli 7-5, 6-2; and Kenneth Friedman 7-5, 6-0 before losing the finals to top seeded Sarthak Mohanty 6-7(5), 6-0, 10-7. Emerson was the #2 seed. Jake Crawford also played the Fiesta Championships (Emerson played the 16′s and Jake played the 18′s. Jake was the top seed and he won 7-6 (8), 6-0 over Tony Zhao in the first round, followed by a 4-3 retired victory over Pauol barrett in the second round. In the finals, he playeed friend and doubles partner Colin Nardella and won 6-4, 6-2.
Michael Haelen travelled to Mountain Lakes where he was the #2 seed. Michael lost in the first round to Jonathan Atwater 6-3, 6-0.
