Sage Tennis


Sage College Womens tennis team is 3-4 after today’s 9-0 win at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA).

FROM THE PLAYERS – Hi, my name is Danielle Sidoti and I play for Sage Colleges. My team is playing well and we won both of our last two matches. We beat Yeshiva 8-1 and we beat MCLA 9-0. In the first match, I won #1 doubles 8-6 and #2 singles 6-3, 6-0.  Today against MCLA, I won doubles #1 8-0 and #2 singles 6-0, 6-3. We play tomorrow against NY-Poly in Staten Island.  I hope we play good. I will write again soon.

Sage netters top MCLA, 9-0

Pittsfield, MA, NY—The Sage Colleges women’s tennis team travelled to Massachusetts to face the Trailblazers of MCLA on Saturday in a non-conference match. The Gators romped 9-0 to capture their second straight win and improve to 3-4 on the fall. MCLA drops to 0-7.

Sage’s junior Isabella Pericone (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills) posted a pair of wins as she topped her opponent at first singles, Laura Laureano, 6-1, 6-0. She teamed at first doubles with junior Danielle Sidoti (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) for an 8-0 win, besting Jessica Fratis and Laureano. Pericone leads Sage’s singles performers with a 5-2 record, while Sidoti, who topped Sarah Murphy at second singles, 6-0, 6-3 is now 4-2 in singles play.

A busy week awaits the Gators with a Skyline Conference match on Sunday against NYU-Poly to be held at the College of Staten Island before additional matches at Union and Western New England, while closing the week hosting defending league champions, Mt. St. Mary College starting at 4 p.m. on October 7 and Farmingdale State on October 8 at 1 p.m.

Gators jump out to an early lead in the Skyline with win over Yeshiva

Latham, NYThe Sage Colleges women’s tennis team hosted Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match. The Gators tallied an 8-1 win to jump out to a 1-0 start to conference play. Overall, the Gators are 2-4 and 1-0 in the Skyline, while Yeshiva drops to 1-5 overall and in the conference.

Sage’s junior Isabella Pericone (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills) posted a pair of wins as she topped her opponent at first singles, Shara Feltheimer, 6-1, 6-1. She teamed at first doubles with junior Danielle Sidoti (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) for an 8-6 win, besting Feltheimer and Bella Green. Pericone leads Sage’s singles performers with a 4-2 record. Sidoti, who topped Esti Reichman, 6-0, 6-3 at no. 2 singles is 3-2 on the fall in singles play.

Sage returns to action on September 28 for a Skyline Conference home match with the defending league champions, Mt. St. Mary College starting at 4 p.m.

Spartans prove to be too much for Gators

Latham, NY—The Sage Colleges women’s tennis team hosted Castleton State College on Wednesday afternoon at the Tri-City Raquet and Fitness Club. The Spartans earned a 7-0 win. Castleton improves to 5-2, while Sage falls to 1-4.

Sage returns to action on September 22 for a non-conference road match at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, weather permitting at 3:30 p.m.
