This past weekend there were two junior tournaments in the Northern Region although they were more than 1 hour away from each other (closer to 1 1/2 hours away).
Colonie Country Club hosted a Level 2 Open Tournament. In the Boys 18 and Unders, Troy’s Anthony O’Connell took out Nate Wolf from Burnt Hills 6-2, 6-3. In the 14′s, Jeffrey Martin of Niskayuna defeated Hudson’s Cosimo Botta 6-3, 6-2. Christina Lau of Niskayuna defeated Academy’s Christine Lee 6-0, 6-0 in the Girls 14′s and Julianne Melita of Schuylerville took the Girls 16′s with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Carianna Voellm of Wynantskill.
At the Turning Stone Casino, Matthew McCall of Sherill, NY defeated Colonie’s Zach Laskey 6-2, 6-2 in the Boys 18′s. Sera Satkowski of Montgomery, NY defeated Julia Wagner of Auburn, NY 6-0, 6-0 in the Girls 14 singles.
