Is it a Tournament or is it an Event?

These days  putting on a professional tennis tournament is about more than making draws and taking scores.  There are many special events.  Lets look at this weeks “Farmers Classic.”  The first Special Event listed on the web site is the Kids Day.

USTA MEMBER APPRECIATION DAY
The Tuesday, July 24th Super Session begins at 2pm and matches continue throughout the evening with a featured match scheduled for not before 7:30pm. As part of USTA Member Appreciation, USTA Members can purchase tickets for that Tuesday Super Session at the box office for $10 off and members will receive a complimentary food voucher valued at $10 that will be redeemable on site, and a special member-only gift from the USTA. Food voucher and special member-only gift are available at the USTA Booth on site while supplies last

There is also a USTA Member Appreciation Day

These days it is not enough to just run a tournament.  You have to be able to run Special Events too.
