Hey, after 2 years, I am allowed one tongue twister headline. Siena men’s and Women’s Tennis will get under way on Saturday, September 10th. The Women will be playing the Siena Fall Classic. Unfortunately, Hofstra cancelled due to the recnt bad weather so it will be Siena vs. Marist in a round robin format at 8:30 at the courts in Loudonville by the ARC. Siena’s Men will take on a team made up of Siena alumni in a fall tradition.
Siena’s top two men’s singles players Michael Amico and Dylan Roberts played alongside women’s incoming freshmen Jessica Macaluso and new assistant coach Caitlyn Crowley in an ITA Summer Circuit Event at Penn State University July 1-4.
“It was a nice tournament, with lots of college students enjoying themselves and working on their games,” Crowley said. “I’m sure it will pay dividends when play starts this fall.”
Amico lost in the first round in singles play, but advanced all the way to the third round in the doubles competition. Roberts won his first round singles match before falling to the top seed from Penn State. Macaluso lost her first singles match, but rallied to win a consolation contest before losing to one of Villanova’s top recruits. Crowley, the fourth seed in women’s singles, advanced to the Round of 16.
