(Manlius, NY) Section 2 players came up short in valiant efforts today at Girls High School Tennis States. Cat Crummey lost a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 battle to Claire Minnoe giving Claire bragging rights until the next time they meet in a tournament. Top seeded Hannah Camhi won a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 thriller over Morgan Hermann in the finals to take the state singles crown. Hermann had beaten both Cat Crummey and Claire Schmitz but Cat actually won more games in her 7-6 (7), 0-6, 7-6 (4) loss to Hermann in the semi’s. Camhi is ranked 10th in the Eastern Section in the Girls 18’s and 85th in the nation. In the doubles, Alexa Goldberg and Tomo Iwaski of Edgemont defeated Chassidy King and Keishorea Armstrong of Emma Willard 6-3, 6-4. Congratulations to all the players who went to states. You represented yourselves and the section well.
