Boys Sectionals Update


The Boys Tennis Individual Sectionals got underway Monday at Central Park Schenectady with seventy singles entries and seventy-eight doubles teams competing.  With two rounds completed, all of the singles seeds advanced except tenth seed Jakob Yager from Maple Hill who lost to Alex Federov from Guilderland and Nick Lau of Niskayuna defeated Marco Boaro (9) of HadleyLuzerne.  In doubles the top seeds of Erwin Lin and Brendan Service from Niskayuna  were upset in the  second round by Sam Matachiero and Bryan Mcgovern from Ichabod Crane.  All other seeded teams advanced to the third round.  Play is scheduled to resume at 1PM Tuesday weather permitting.

Singles matches to be played: Stefan Kuhar –Academy (1) vs. Russell Santos – Niskayuna; Zach Lasky – Colonie vs. Fred Sjodelius – Mohonesen;  Nick Arciero (8) – Saratoga vs. Ben Spoor – Ballston Spa; Jordan Schroeder – Troy vs. Krystov Faut – Hudson; Rohin Bose (4) – Bethlehem vs. Matt Bunch – Burnt Hills; Sanjay Achar – Shenendehowa vs. James Fryer – Ravena; Lars Olson (5) – Doane Stuart vs. Tyler Sheldon – Greenwich; Alex Fedorov – Guilderland vs. Julianne Melita – Schuylerville; Matt Desantis – Columbia vs. Nick Lau – Niskayuna; Ben Sanders – Bethlehem vs. Conner Doud (6) – Ballston Spa; Ben Nygart – South Glens Falls vs. Michell Burhoe (3)  – Glens Falls; Joshua Bay – Shenendehowa vs. Casey Angello – Taconic Hills; Sam McDermott – Granville vs. Ethan Long (7) – LaSalle; Drew Riley – Saratoga def. Scotty Bruce – Gloversville   10-1; Rob Schmitz (2) – Scotia def. Paul Abishek – Guilderland  10-1.  

We will have updates later tonight but a word of warning, we don’t have all of the doubles scores.
