One of the biggest college tennis stories from the area was the success of the Skidmore Women’s and Men’s Tennis programs this year.  I am sorry that I didn’t run this story earlier but here it is from the Skidmore College Tennis web page.

The women were ranked 16th, while the men finished 22nd.

The Thoroughbred women were ranked fifth in the Northeast Region.  The doubles combination of Nataly Mendoza and Lee Ford were ranked 17th nationally and sixth in the Northeast, while Melisssa Hirsch ranked 24th in Northeast singles.

The women finished the season with a 15-6 record and reached the regional final of the NCAA Division III Tournament after winning the Liberty League championship. Ford and Mendoza competed in the 2012 NCAA doubles championships and earned All-America honors for finishing fourth in the USTA/ITA championships.

The men’s team was ranked 6th in the Northeast region. Oliver Loutsenkowas ranked 21st nationally in singles and fourth in the Northeast. The doubles team of Alec Hoblitzell and Jimmy Sherpa were ranked 23rd nationally and sixth in the Northeast.

The team was 11-7 and advanced to the NCAA Division II second round after winning the Liberty League championship.
