“Pune’s tennis fraternity had a common talking point on Friday as a chair umpire was offered money by a player’s father. The incident, perhaps the first of its kind, took place at a girls’ U-16 final of the All India Junior Ranking Tennis at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) School Tennis court in Balewadi on Friday.”
” Tanaya Gosavi and the tournament director Sunder Iyer in which he stated, “One of the parents had offered to pay Rs3,000 to give decisions in his daughter’s favour during a final match. This amount was increased to Rs5,000 when the match was stopped for a rain break.””
