Anna Dyakiv, Armine Kurkjian, Taylor Whitcolm – College Tennis


Anna Dyakiv (Amsterdam) continued her winning ways this year at Nichols College.  Anna played #1 singles and #1 doubles and helped the team to a 12-4 record so far going into today’s season ending league championship match against Endicott.  Earlier this season Nichols squeezed by Endicott 5-4 in a match that was played at Endicott.  This time around the Nichols Bison Women play at home. Nichols is 8-0 in league play going into the match.  Anna is 8-3 at #1 singles and 10-2 at doubles.  She played mostly at #1 but some also at #2 doubles.  Anna has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the year for 2 years running.  Check back for results from the championship match.

Armine Kurkjian(Voorheesville) saw limited action this year playing for the John Jay Bloodhounds.  Armine was 1-0 at 4th singles and 3-10 in doubles.  Armine is the daughter of Voorheesville Coach Tom Kurkjian.

Taylor WhitcombTaylor Whitcolm (Cairo-Durham) also played a limited schedule for the Stonehill Skyhawks.  He played in the “D” Flight of the Stonehill Doubles Invitational with partner William Brosnan of Garden City, NY.  Taylor and William lost their First Round match against a team from Endicott College (9-7) but came back to win their Consolation Round matches by 8-2 and 8-0 scores.
