Another Year – Another Little Mo Star (Elise Wagle)

Between Max Benson and Ronan Jachuck the Northern Region has more than it’s share of winners at the Little Mo Tournament.  This year we have Elise Wagle.  Elise managed to win the USTA Eastern Sectional Little Mo tournament in the 9 year old category and went into the Chicago Regional as the top seed.  At the Sectionals, she beat Sophia Weiland of Dresden, Germany 7-5, 6-1 then beat Madison Seig in the finals 7-6, 6-1.

In the North Regionals she started off with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Emily Callahan of Lake Forest, Illinois.  Next up was Kyra Emmanouilidis of Inverness, Illinois.  She beat Kyra 6-0, 6-0.  In the semi finals she beat #2 seeded Olivia Almy of Southbough, Mass 6-3, 6-3.

Little Mo Nationals

UPDATE 10/17 – Max lost his 3/4 playoff match to Dylan Breslaw 6-2, 6-3

Max Benson started out his final year of competing in the Little Mo Tournament with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Tyler Anson of Dripping Springs,Ttexas.  Tyler plays out of the Austin Tennis Academy so he had a home court advantage but Max was just too much for him.  Next up was #3 seed Sam Gibson of Chico, California.  Sam is a 3 star recruit, ranked #316 on the National Recruiting List for 6th graders. Max won 7-5, 3-6, 6-0.  Max finally met his match against Rafael Grovas of San German, Puerto Rico.  Rafael is ranked 129 in the country on the National Recruiting List and is 160th in the country in the 12 and unders.  The score was 6-3, 6-4.  Max plays Dylan Breslaw of Port St. Lucie, Florida in the 3/4 playoff match tomorrow.  Dylan is ranked 467 nationally in the 12’s, Max is ranked 492. On the National Recruiting List Dylan is 35th in the country for 5th graders, Max is 216 in the country for 6th graders. It looks to be a good matchup.  Check back here for results.

Ronan Jachuck also made the Little Mo Nationals – playing in the  and the #2 seeded Jachuck came   and unders.  The #2 seeded Jachuck came out smoking with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Cameron Slack of Fort Pierce, Florida.  Cameron is ranked 178th on the National Recruiting List for 5th graders, Ronan is ranked 9th on the list for 4th graders.  In the next round, Andrei Volgin, of Fremont, California beat Ronan 7-6 (3), 6-4.  Although both players are still in the 10 and unders, they both have national 12 and under rankings. Ronan is 1002 and Andrei is 862 (he is 61 on the National Recruiting List for 5th graders).  Ronan beat Zachary Smith of New Orleans. Louisiana  – the 73rd rated 5th grader – by a score of 6-1, 6-1 in the consolation round.  He lost to Harrison Gold – the 3rd seed in the next round of consolation 6-3, 7-5.  Harrison (Aventura, Florida) was the #3 seed and is 1359 on the National 12 and Under list (he is rated 30th on the National Recruiting List for 5th graders and #5 in Florida).  Congratulations to both Max and Ronan on making the Nationals of this prestigious event.
